Our Chris Long Sub Up For ESPN’s Fanwich Contest
A Charlottesville shop’s signature sub is in the running to be voted the greatest sports sandwich in the country.
The “Chris Long” at Littlejohn’s is entered into ESPN’s fanwich contest. The foot-long steak sub is loaded with horseradish mayo, bacon, sweet peppers, melted provolone, and sauteed onions. It’s named after former University of Virginia football standout – now Saint Louis Rams defensive end – Chris Long. And it’s one of Littlejohn’s top ten sellers.
Littlejohn’s Owner Chris Strong said, “Chris used to come in at night and he would purchase 2, 8-inch steak and cheeses. And we thought, why don’t we honor him – and this was the year of the draft, 3 years ago – honor him for his great service to the community and to UVA by developing a sub for him.”
You can vote for the Chris Long on the fanwich facebook page. The contest winner will get their sandwich placed on the menu and served in the ESPN cafeteria.
